His open field tackle on that last drive was beautiful

Not just Apple, but Anzalone and Davis covering backs out of the backfield.
Rarely do we consistently give QBs the 1-2 second throws that we did from 2014-2016, and at times in 2017.
Since everyone is actually covered right after the snap the QB can't just immediately take the check down like they could those years.
That said, on third and long we still give far too much cushion too often instead of just playing our defense. That or send an all out blitz that seems to more often than not leave a huge hole the QB exploits.
I'd still rather have 3rd and 1 than 3rd and 12 with the way Allen plays those (though recently it seems to have gotten better).

So you woukd rather face 3rd and 1 and not 3rd and 12? What?

How many 3rd and medium and 3rd and shorts have you seen converted on us? How many 3rd and longs?
I'll try to find the answer but I guarantee we are worse at 3rd and longs.

Demario Davis is the best LB we’ve had since peak Vilma

But he was the player most responsible for the one TD we allowed.
It's called a great play call, nobodies "Fault"

By far. Not even close.
Anzalone is suddenly making a push for that claim also, which is great. He really turned it around from the start of the year where he consistently looked lost.

According to PFT, Apple thinks the Saints are bringing out the best in him.
“My teammates, they’re bringing out the best in me. They push me every day, especially Coach AG [secondary coach Aaron Glenn] and the whole defensive staff,” Apple said, via ESPN. “Every week, it’s just understanding the defense, understanding how my teammates play and just playing with more confidence.”
