Name the alternative, a QB we can realistically sign and the amount you think he'll sign for that'll keep us in the playoffs.

Because I can guarantee you 2 things: The alternative will not be as good as Brees, and the cap hit for the starting QB position will be bigger for the lesser QB if we let Brees go compared to keeping Brees

So...why is the guy and at what amount?

He's probably going to get around $20mil/year.

So, Brees is better than Bridgewater. No one should disagree with that if you're trying to be the least bit rational.

Would you prefer to pay Brees $30mil or would you prefer to pay Teddy $20mil PLUS the $21.3 dead money, and thus tying up $41.3mil to the starting QB spot?


That's a no brainer, I'll take the better QB and $10mil extra in salary cap.
