Armstead works out at my gym during the off season. Tried to steal the squat rack. Had to tell him hold up a minute, got a set left.

I apologize in advance if his legs aren't up to pay this season.

I wanted to touch more on those efficiency rankings.

In rounds 1-3 we are actually tied for 13th in starts per pick and have 5 pro bowlers, 1 more than the average.

We also had 6 picks less than the average of 31(less 2 for bounty farce, 1 for Ingram, 1 for Ellis, 1 because we never get comp picks, and 1 I'm forgetting).

We are 1st in starts per pick in rounds 4-7, and a full 1.2 starts per above the next team. We are 1st in pro bowl players with 4, 3 above the average.

The part I got confused with earlier(flipped 1-3 and 4-7) is that we are well below the average of 49 picks in rounds 4-7 with only 35(lowest total of any team).

Part of that is because we rarely get comp picks(without comp picks the average would be 40). The other part is that we aren't afraid to leverage those picks to trade for vets or to move up the draft board for a player we like. Most of those moves seem to work well, but some backfire.

If you add all the rounds together we are BARELY(0.2) below the Chargers for 1st with starts per pick with 26.5. We are tied for 2nd in pro bowl players with 9(Chiefs had 10; 9ers had 9).

If we are somehow able to hang on to our picks(dead last in total picks with 60; only us and the Jets(66) had below 71) , we could do very well for ourselves if these trends continue.

Edit:
Two more stats. If you did pro bowl players per pick, we are far and away number 1 with 15%.

The other is that the Raiders have drafted 0 pro bowl players in 10 years.

Good stuff on that link. It puts into words what I've observed anecdotally over the years.

Given our efficiency in rounds 4-7 and our lack of overall number of picks in that range, I wouldn't mind seeing us trade back more and grabbing value later. We could be like the Patriots and store draft late round draft picks, only get more production on the field than they do.

Frick the first round. 3 through 7 is where it's at and beyond.
