Notice how he's facing north in case the evil American army ever decides to quell a traitorous and illegal rebellion again. Those fricking assholes - the nerve to quash a violent rebellion! Abe Lincoln was such a dipshit!

That statue is such a fricking joke. It's not like Lee saved New Orleans from being torched by the Yanks or something. What is it doing here?

Lee fought for the wrong side - both historically and morally.

I honestly couldn't care less about what they do with that statue, but I'd just like to let you know that this isn't entirely correct. The Civil War wasn't only fought for slavery...it was fought for state rights. From what I remember, the South was sick of the North and wanted their state rights. The North disagreed so the South decided to secede. I mean, I'm sure slavery played some part in it, but not nearly as much as people make it out to be.

It's morally wrong to secede from a legally formed nation (especially one as great as ours - and as recently founded) and start the bloodiest war in our nation's history.

It astounds me to this day how much sentiment there remains for the Confederates.

We are lucky as shite that no European powers took advantage of our decimated military after the Civil War and conquered our arse.

The South could have been punished severely but Lincoln chose to pardon them and embrace them back into the Union. But technically every free man and woman in the South was guilty of treason and could have been executed.

Lee, Jackson, Davis, etc. probably should have been executed instead of allowed to die peacefully and become Jesus figures to 1/3 of the nation. Just my 2 cents.

Depends what side you wanted to take. The South was often treated unfairly. So while they probably shouldn't have seceded, the gov't could have treated them more fairly. They both were wrong in some ways. And while Lincoln may have not done anything to the South, but others did after the war. Also, Lincoln would have been a fool to really take action against the South after the war. He would have looked like a murderer after the South had already lost that much from the war.

By the way, when you said the moral thing I assumed you were talking about slavery since that's what most people talk about.

Keep the name.

Replace the General with a statue of Harry Lee.

And Alejandro... you appear to be dumber with each post. Seriously, just stop. There are statues and schools honoring Robert E. Lee throughout the south. Get over it.
