The guy has over 30 years of coaching in the NBA and no championship. Why would you want to waste your time with that? Kerr was a new hire w/o HC experience and look at what he did. Tired of the same old coaches getting jobs

You’re missing my point man. Riley knew his time was up as a head coach. All these head coaches in most sports tend to lose their edge and ability to manage games as they age. It’s why Riley moved to an executive role where it’s less demanding on him day to day. Dantoni will be/is no different.

Please tell me the 30 years experience he has? He started in 98. Your math is broke like your thought process. Who else is a viable option who y’all could hire?? There is no Steve Kerr Steve Nash unproven high upside guy.. all there is are fired head coaches and Sam cassel

Sure but D’Antoni isn’t there yet. So you hire him until he is. You’re not even providing a counter argument your just playing devils advocate. Who could y’all actually hire as in they would want to come and agree to coach the pelicans that would do better then MDA the next two years

D’Antoni coached in the Euro league according to wiki and actually won championships there, so that’s my bad. Uhm there are Euro guys we can consider. I wouldn’t be surprised considering Griffins history and honestly its a fresh fricking take instead of stale senile D’Antoni.

Hiring a coach isn’t using assets. So what your edit is saying you’re okay to hire a lesser coach right now and find one later because the time isn’t now for you guys yet?

Derek Fisher was a first time HC hire the same year Kerr was. This idea that we'll just pluck any first time guy and he'll automatically be Spoe or Nurse is dumb.

How do you know if you don’t try? So you just want the same stale coaches that haven’t won?

Yeah Sam cassel would be amazing for y’all. He’s my favorite candidate and he’s not even a candidate.. Dude has so many basketball connections it ain’t even funny. Think about how many assistants/ trainers he could bring in to help. Would love to have SC old pal KG come in a teach Zion how to switch and run a defense. He’s got connections with all the old Houston guys. Has won 3 championships as a young player and again as a vet. Really wish one of you Louisiana natives could make him happen

How do you know the "stale" coach isn't the one? There's risk in all candidates but for reason people ignore that with guys with no experience.

You never know, but right now there is not a single one of these “stale” coaches that blow me away

That’s on griff for not having Lebron figure that out before making the move.. see how the clippers consulted Kawhi and PG before firing Doc

When you have Lebron who comes off of winning championships with Miami and then he is a legend in the city Lebron gets what Lebron wants no matter what the GM says.

Then let him be the gm. DG doesn’t get a pass for that because Lebron was gm. All that says is DG is cool with letting other people run his team. Everyone has bad hires it’s okay. I’m not trying to hate on DG I’m just trying to say he’s not hiring any European coaches

Nobody with any sense would consider D'antoni a Euro coach when he's been in the NBA the last 20 years.
