Bad shots when Pels had lead in the 4th were a big part of this loss

Mavs had absolutely no answer for Pels inside when the ball got into the paint. Then we start shooting jumpers, and many were very difficult jumpers. CJ has played very well but I think he took some ill-advised shots when we had that 7-9 point lead. I’m all for shooting those when you get great looks, but that wasn’t the case. Many things that can be pointed to but that and free throws were the difference.

CJ is very streaky three point shooter. When he’s on, he’ll hit four in a row. When he’s off, he’ll miss seven in a row. They weren’t bad shots, but he wasn’t hitting them and many were very early in the shot clock.

Go with the percentages and continue getting the shots at the rim. Mavs were scoring on a very high percentage of possessions in 4th so we needed to continue matching them if we wanted to maintain a lead going into the last 4-5 minutes.
