3-8 still very much open to anyone; although, Portland is putting themselves in the best position to earn #3.

I'm still not over how poorly Saturday night was called. When a game is given away to the (any) visiting team like that, it's a travesty. The MVP surely gets his calls. But, our Pels shook it off and played very well last night.

#10 - LAC (37-32) - have the toughest schedule this week: @Minn, @Mil, @Ind, & @Tor...And, it doesn't get any easier from there. We can all consider the Clippers toast - ELIMINATED

#9 - DEN (38-32) - @Mia, @Chi, @Wash...They just lost to Memphis to start this 7-Game road trip. This factor alone can be the end of the Nuggets - Near Elimination

#8 - Minn (40-31) - D. Rose can't help you now...after taking our Golden State and the Wizards, they've lost 2-straight to San Antonio and the Rockets last night (in a game that got ugly...possibly suspensions coming?) LAC, @NYK, @Phi...We need them to go (1-2) this week, but that's not very likely.

#7 - SAS (40-30) - Current streak is at 3 with GSW tonight, Wash, & Uta all at home, and the Spurs are one of the best home teams in basketball. All this before a 2-game road trip out east to play @Mil & @Wash next week. The Spurs are coming...

#6 - NOP (40-30) Our Pels are in their best position with 12 games to play. All things considered, if they can't earn a #4, #6 is the best place for them playing Portland in Rd 1. We're sitting pretty on a 5-game home stand with Dal, Ind, & a b2b v/s LAL before traveling to Hou to play the Rockets Saturday night. Pels need to go at the very least (2-2) this week before a difficult week next week.

#5 Utah (40-30) - Jazz have won 9-in-a-row, and that should extend to 11 with ATL & @Dal. But, after that, it's @SAS, @GSW, & at home v/s BOS. The Jazz have found themselves in the thick of things and are one of the most impressive teams in basketball right now. The Jazz are basically a lock for the playoffs.

#4 OKC (43-29) - OKC has won 6 in a row and is a team I do not want the Pels to play in Rd 1. Nobody wants to play OKC Rd 1. Although, they may have the toughest set of games remaining in the Western Conference. This week: @ BOS, Mia, Port. Then, @ SAS, Den, @ NOP, GSW, @Hou, & @Mia. That's 9-straight games v/s playoff caliber teams. I'd like to think OKC is a lock for the playoffs, which they basically are, but that schedule tho...

#3 Port (44-26) - has won a league best 13 games in a row. But, like the Thunder, have a very difficult remaining schedule. This week, they have Hou, BOS, & @OKC. That should snap the win streak. Portland is a lock for the playoffs but possibly could see their #3 slip if they're not careful.

FINAL RESULT prediction:

1. Houston
2. Golden State

3. Portland (was 9th last month)
4. Utah (was 10th last month)
5. Oklahoma City
6. New Orleans
7. San Antonio
8. Minnesota (was 3rd last month)

This thing is wide open. We won’t know where anyone outside of Houston and GS will finish til the last week of the season. This is gonna be a crazy race to the finish

I'd be pretty damn disappointed if we did not make the playoffs.

If Denver loses tonight, which I think they will, we’d have to really frick up to not make it

45 wins is the floor.

They would only be 2.5 back with the tiebreaker

Magic number would be 10 wins if DEN loses tonight

I would rather play OKC than PDX 10 times out of 10.

I couldn't disagree more. What are you basing this on?

the only other year I can remember the West being this good was 2008

1. LAL 57-25
2. NO Hornets 56-26
3. SAS 56-26
4. PHO 55-27
5. HOU 55-27
6. UTA 54-28
7. DAL 51-31
8. DEN 50-32

for reference, in the East it took 37 wins to get into the 8th spot that year (crazy). now while I don't think it'll take 50 wins to get in, I think it'll take around 46 to get in, and 48 (with tiebreakers) to get that coveted 6th seed. Which is why winning the head-to-head with the Spurs on the last game of the season will be big. However, I think that game will be more important for us to get the 6th seed than a tiebreaker because I think the Spurs will fall below us due to their brutal schedule to finish (even if Kawhi comes back).

POR and UTA I think are locks to stay in the 3rd, 4th, or 5th (at worst for either team). Even though Utah's schedule is tough to finish, they are one of the hottest teams in the league. I'm mostly watching MIN and OKC for 6th. Minnesota's schedule is pretty easy to finish so it'll be difficult catching them. If we go 8-4 and OKC goes 5-5 (or we go 9-3 and OKC goes 6-4) we can beat OKC out for 6th. Which is possible because OKC has POR, SAS, GSW, HOU, and NOP in their last 10 and we already have the tiebreaker, but again it wont be easy

As a biased fan, I put NOP at #6, but if I'm being realistic:
3. POR
4. UTA
5. OKC
6. MIN
7. NOP
8. SAS

Hard for me to see Denver or LAC getting to 45 wins

I agree. I guess what I meant to say is that the team in 8th will probably have 46 wins. But 48 wins will give you a good chance at the 6th seed.

whereas just like you said 44-45 wins will probably get you to over LAC and DEN and in the playoffs

I think going 3-0 over the next 3 is crucial because it'll set the tone for the final stretch. But to do that, we NEED to take care of business early tonight and get AD and Jrue off the floor. I'd even like to see Rondo sit out tonight and come back for IND and LAL. Those two are no joke and we'll need to be at full strength.

The Thunder have 3.5 good players on their roster, and none of them can stop AD. Portland is the better defensive team and has been the second best team in the league post ASB.
