This was one for me too. Took me a while to really get into it but I love it now.

I'll add Tool - Lateralus. It was the first Tool album I had ever listened to. Before, I only knew that the singer was the same as A Perfect Circle's, who I was a pretty big fan of their stuff. I bought Lateralus solely based on this. I remember playing the first song and just being so confused. I literally could not get through almost every song on the album besides Schism. I felt I had made a bad purchase and shelved the album, though something kept bringing me back to it. Over time, it grew on me a ton and eventually became an obsession.
