How many songs have been mentioned in total? Like 35?

ALso not a bad one. I noticed we were the only ones who picked Carouselambra. I am not crazy about the first two-3 minutes, but then the downtempo starts and it makes me wanna light 4 j's or so.

I think its closer to 45. If you took every song mentioned, youd almost have the entire catalogue ...now how impressive is that? Not many bands can get that range. I would bet only the Stones or Beatles could match. Take a band like rush even...if same question were asked, i am certain everyone would have at least two plus songs off of

MOVING PICTURES. Here we have so many varied responses due to difficulty in choosing. Several people have zero songs from IV or Physical Graffit -- often deemed their two best.

If i could only take one ALBUM, itd have to be HOUSES OFTHE HOLY. Best opening track in The song remains the same (IN THE EVENING & BLACK DOG second it) and just an incredible flow that is perfect. That album might be the most flawlessly orchestrated i can think of and it is by far their most notorious cover artwork.

Another we could have done...pick only ONE song from each of their albums...then pick one bonus LIVE track. We would see some wide responses there.

Also what are some surprising "not mentioned yet" songs? I cannot recollect any majot stuff being omitted. I even saw songs like THE CRUNGE and SICK AGAIN in this awesome thread.

IF we picked live stuff that's where it would really become difficult IMO. They were so good live, especially from say '68-'71 their music took them different places each night.

There is quite the variety on this thread that's for sure. I did this last week and mine has already changed again, of course this is by far my favorite band.

It's ridiculously impressive. It speaks volumes. I doubt either the Stones or Beatles would be this diversely appreciated. Some might disagree with what I'm about to write here, but I think Zeppelin's music has held up way better over time than either the Stones or Beatles. In other words, you could make a Zep playlist that people in their early 20s would love. I don't think you could do the same for the Beatles. You might have a little more success with the Stones.

The thing that makes me love zeppelin the most is their diversity. The first thing most tell you about zeppelin is they are hard rock. I completely disagree with that statement.

Yes you have hard stuff like Dazed and Confused, Achilles Last Stand and such, but then you have Tangerine, Going to California, the Rain Song as slow softer music. Then you also have even some country influence on songs like Down by the Seaside and Hot Dog. IMO yes their roots are blues, but they have such a diversity in the sound and music they made, that is what makes them the greatest rock band ever IMO.
