Same here, but lately I'm finding myself not getting into some of the newer stuff that many seem to think is great.
For example, the song Myth by Beach House. To me this is just bland and average, but it gets rave reviews.
I'm reverting back to a garage-ier sound at a time when dream pop is coming to the forefront. I just can't get into that stuff.

i hear ya, i do like the new beach house alot though. it is in my top 5 with TMOE.

Music is so subjective and I guess that's one of the things that makes it interesting. I'm def not one of those who thinks today's music is terrible b/c there's A LOT of new stuff I like.
I just don't seem to go for what's most critically acclaimed lately.

i totally agree that is wildly subjective.
i really like the new beach house, you don't. nothing wrong with that. i still know you have fine taste.
