Trying to Explain "Deep Cover" By Dre and Snoop

Since this staple of the classic gangsta rap genre came before idiots like Lil' Wayne, it means there is likely a legitimate story to it instead of a jumbled mixture of words that simply rhyme.

It is plausible to think that Dre is the undercover cop, and Snoop is the gangsta who reveals him? If so, it is hard to tell because they talk to each other on each side of the story line.
