Thought process on buying guitars cash

Is my thinking wrong in this
I’ve been doing a fair amount of guitars buying/ selling the last couples of years or so. One of my thing I will do is search reverb by state and ask the seller what they would take cash. (It’s about 8% that you give reverb when you sell something) so I know if you have an asking price of $2,000 the absolute most you can come out with is $1,840.
The last couple of people I’ve ask have told me their bottom dollar cash price is higher than their top payout they can get. Plus they have to pack it up and deal with risk of shipping
Do they think I don’t know this information or am I just missing something
