Drops today.

Quiet Light is an early highlight. After listening to Rylan for ten years I’m not a huge fan of this studio version.

Thoughts?

Haven't listened to the whole thing yet. Probably will take a bunch of listens to have a stronger opinion on it anyway since The National albums are such growers.

I did listen to the studio version of Rylan and I like it, but yeah, it isn't quite as great as the live versions I have heard throughout the years.

The National fans may enjoy this. One of my favorite music critics and a huge National fan, Steven Hyden, came out with his list of the Top 40 National tracks. I definitely don't agree with everything (Mistaken for Strangers only at 37 ), but it is a fun read.

Sweeeeeet I dig Hyden too. Excited to dig into it. Appreciate it

ETA: surprised humiliation and runaway were that high on his list. #1 was obvious and well deserved. My top 3 are still slow show, geese, and mr November. Excited to see them in September for the first time in almost 10 years

I am a big fan of Runaway. He is definitely higher on Humiliation than me though.

My top 3 would also include Slow Show and Mr. November. Probably with Mistaken for Strangers or Apartment Story as number three.

I’m a way bigger fan of their earlier stuff (pre High Violet) but that’s honestly probably because of nostalgia. The new record keeps on improving with every spin. Still not a huge fan of Matt taking a bit of a backseat on vocals.
