A very sad day for me. They were SO good..... if I had a time machine I would like to go back and be a fan for the”One more From the Road live album that they made at the Fabulous Fox Theater...........in Atlanta.... What a great concert and recording.........

They were great. Everyone of their guitarists were incredible.

Listen to Ed King's two solos in Sweet Home Alabama.

Incredible

All of the Florida "guitar armies" had incredible talent, in hindsight.

All I Can Do Is Write About It is one of my favorite songs. Ronnie van Zant had an underrated voice. Great song about that really captures the feeling of growing up in the south. If you don't know it, give it a listen.

RIP. YouTube is full of first hand stories from people on the plane.

I've often wondered if they would've had a great second phase in their career in 1980's country. The first time I saw artists like Travis Tritt, Sawyer Brown and The Kentucky Headhunters I thought they were doing they're best Ronnie Van Zandt / Skynyrd Lite.

Regardless they were going to have a big Steve Gaines infusion career bump.

It was our loss to be sure.
