I can pretty much justify Darlene Love
Let's talk about this one - all reports are that she is a great lady. I'm not doubting her ability as a singer.
But doesn't there have to be more than that? I mean, if Darlene Love is IN and Merry Clayton isn't. Shelly Fabares isn't. Lots of girl singers from 1960s aren't.
I don't see it.

Donovan
He knew a bunch of folks who are or belong in the HOF. He was somewhat influential on successive generations - but I just can't imagine it makes sense to have Donovan in the ROCK hall of fame (not hippie, not songwriter, not folk music, but ROCK) and not have bands like Deep Purple, Yes, Iron Maiden and Def Leppard.
Deep Purple (and to a lesser degree, Yes) might be problematic because they had like 400 people go through the band over the decades. But, still should be in there over a whole raft of folks who are in there for non "Rock and Roll" reasons.

I would definitely have REO Speedwagon in ahead of Def Leppard.
