Yeah but when compared to St. Anger, it's a masterpiece

Tru dat. St. Anger is about as bad as it gets.

The second concert I ever went to was Aerosmith w/Dokken opening at UNO in 1987. To this day I've never seen so much open drug usage at any other time. It was beyond awesome.

Permanent Vacation

Yeah it had the hits but there is some good stuff on there: Hangman Jury, Hearts Done Time... even the cover of I'm Down is good.

This album was my first exposure to raw "live" rock, and changed my perception.

Other than that I'm not really a fan.

I like to act like they stopped existing after Pump. Pump was really the turning point for them, but it was decent. When they started hiring writers and making generic ballads on Get A Grip, I was done.

To think back at how pissed people were about the Black Album and Fuel/Refuel is funny. They had no idea how bad it was going to get.

Maybe I am in the minority, but I really could never get into Aerosmith that much. I think I liked maybe one song, and Walk This Way is towards the top of the list of some of my most hated songs.

Same here. I turn the station if they come on.

Aerosmith's early period sounds like it was made by a band. The later stuff sounds like it was made by record company people sitting around a board room table and plugging in elements to try for more mass appeal, sales and chart success.

The former way of doing it always yields better music than the latter.

That's because their worst songs are their hits. Check out their old shite before the breakup. Live Bootleg is great.
