Just to let the doo wop nation know, a friend copied over 500 real doo wop songs onto a flash drive for me, and I was able to transfer them to my iphone and can play them through carplay on my car's after-market sound system. (don't laugh - for a 79 year old with worse dementia than Biden, I did pretty good).

Just had to share this film clip of a rather obscure doo wop group:
The Dubs - "Could This Be Magic"
Oh and Blueridge could you change the thread title to make it about doo wop in general? Something nice and poetic like "Street Corner Symphonies - The Doo Wop Thread".

The Devotions - "Rip Van Winkle"
A flop upon first release in 1961, and again when rereleased in 1962. But the third time's a charm, and when it was rereleased yet again in 1964 it made the pop top 40, even against the British Invasion that was pretty much obliterating doo wop and doo wop culture.

The Mystics - "Don't Take The Stars"(1959)
Their followup to the classic "Hushabye", & almost as good.
One of the group members shows up in the comments, as does the songwriter:

I was visiting Laurie records regarding a song of mine recorded by another artist on their label. They showed me a stack of demos of songs rejected by The Mystics and asked me to write a song for the group's next recording session scheduled for the following week. Still in high school, I wrote "Don't Take the Stars" over the weekend and presented a demo to the company that Monday. The group liked the song and recorded it the very same week. Thanks to heavy play by New York deejays, "Don't Take The Stars" hit the charts and became The Mystics' second hit after "Hushabye".

I was 17 years old met and dated a young lady just as this song came out , We were in love as only young people can be ,and every time I listened to this song I would feel all romantic . Well needless to say after two years it didn’t stand the test of time. But every time I hear this song ,for a brief moment it’s 1956 again and I’m seventeen again. Now I’m 81

The Mellows - "Smoke From Your Cigarette" (1955)
Supposedly a favorite of Lou Reed, especially for the lead vocal of Lillian Leach.
Whoa she was a tall broad
