Someday I'll Fly - Youtube
Excellent documentary on John Mayer from beginnings through Pardise Valley album.
From the production value you would think this was made by a studio, but it was made by a fan, and is about Mayer in his own words.
Very good quotes from the doc...
"You develop a style when you fail to sound exactly like the person you are trying to sound like."
"It won't work. That's the worst thing you can ever say, 'it didn't work' is cool, but 'it won't work' is not a way to go through life.
'You gotta be wise enough to know you're in the dream to control it, but not too excited while you are controlling it that you wake up from the excitement.'

If you watch a lot of Mayer's instagram stuff it starts to be apparent he only feels alive when he is performing, and working on music, that his life in between is just something he endures, and he struggles to make that time more like a normal person. There is something very dark going on inside his head, it would not surprise me to wake up one day hand learn he had gone out the way of Anthony Bourdain.

He hit his peak at Continuum/The Trio/Where the Light Is, in my opinion. He can still rip on the guitar but his music is just meh.

I agree. I don't listen to anything past those 3 albums very much at all, if ever.
