Orrr Avicii, whose name they actually ripped off. I wonder if he will speak publicly about this soon.

It's easy to make a generalization like this. There are legitimately very talented electronic artists out there. The skit is making fun of the hyper-popular ones (and their worshipers) that fricking blow and don't do anything on stage, such as Skrillex.

Well I've tried to listen to a bunch of DJs at various music festivals and it is the same old thing over and over again. The DJ jumping around on stage, building up the audience, then he stops the music and then the bass drops and everybody goes nuts. About 10 minutes later the same thing happens again.

Not sure how many of these tour with bands, but you could at least listen to their studio recordings:
Black Moth Super Rainbow
Ratatat
Octopus Project
Animal Collective
Panda Bear
Boards of Canada
Washed Out (tours with a band)
Toro Y Moi
Tanlines
Cut Copy
Hot Chip

I'm by no means an expert on electronic music. But the ones I listed are probably a good starting point.

Andre knows his chit

haha, no not directly - I've never listened to his music either, just wanted to drop an unknown.

I just remembered the name from my time in ttown.

I think I hung around some girls that were friends of his for a period of time one year.

yes

and when things get popular, you get over-saturation in the market, which means not everything will be of high quality

but, on the flip side, we also get MORE good products

Lol at ppl who think that bc a DJ has a laptop in front of him that means he is just queueing songs up and mixing electronically. Its just a more efficient source of tracks. With Ableton and Final Scratch...

Its a good article and I agree with pretty much everything he said.

What I dont really get is that he sits there and bashes the shite out of the festivals the whole article but his tour dates in the past and future are littered with these festivals. Yea he can bitch all he wants but he is also cashing in at these things. I cant blame him though. Who wouldnt mind playing a set to a bunch of drugged out idiots for 200k-1M?
