It was her husband, Ted White, that was with her in Muscle Shoals. A trumpet player grabbed her arse, and Ted flipped out. They fired the trumpet player, Ted got drunk and left, Rick Hall went to try and work it out with Ted, he got drunk, too, and then Ted and Aretha split back to NYC. They got "I never loved a man" out of the session. She claims she "found her soul" during that fiasco.
