Great news! Hopefully we'll have a new album by next spring.

Last month, Josh Homme revealed his intentions to reconvene Queens of the Stone Age, with plans to record new music. “Same lineup, we’re locked in,” Homme said during an interview on the Let There Be Talk podcast. During his own podcast appearance on 2 Hours With Matt Pinfield, guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen confirmed that the band will be back in the studio before the year’s end to record a new album.
“We’ve already started talking about what we’re gonna do next for the next Queens record,” Van Leeuwen explained. “There’s tons of ideas that are bouncing around … We’re going to do something before the end of the year, as far as recording goes.”
“We’re excited to get back together to follow-up …Like Clockwork, which was a really, really big record for us, personally,” he added. “It was a big record for us ’cause it was the hardest record to make. And we’re trying to not do that again. We just want to keep things simpler and try that, I guess.”
Aside from a brief reunion in September for a surprise concert at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles, this will mark the first time the band is back together since announcing a hiatus in March 2015. Since then, both Homme and Van Leeuwen have remained active in various other projects — Homme with Eagles of Death Metal and Iggy Pop, Van Leeuwen with the Mastodon/At The Drive-In/QOTSA supergroup Gone Is Gone, whose eponymous debut arrived on July 8th.

I gave it a listen. Some interesting stuff going on. Not sure if it's for me but I'm gonna give it another listen.
Anyone else excited that Jon Theodore will likely be on most of the next album? He's an excellent drummer. I loved him in The Mars Volta.
