NEWS FLASH: I'm going electric. Suggestions?

In order to avoid a 1965 Newport Folk Music Festival-type controversy, I'm announcing to the pop music world that after 12 years as an acoustic guitarist, I'm going electric.
I'm looking at a Gretsch G5622T semi-hollow body on account of:
• Thin body
• Suitable for my playing style (rhythm with some pick picking thrown in)
• It's in my price range ($1000)
Anyone have any other suggestions--other models that fit what I'm looking for? The Gretsch I'm looking to buy is on this website for lefties:

korean made crap if it's not made by the custom shop in the states.

"Original design by Jerry’s Lefty Guitars. First ever semi-hollow Gretsch G5622T White with Competition Blue Stripes." That's what it says on his website.
I've bought from Jerry before, he's a good guy. But I will ask him what "original design" means--maybe he's just talking about the stripes.
