Well, I'm halfway through it. I tried to approach it with an open mind and forget about Mer de Noms and 13th Step. It's actually not that bad. I really like how the first 3 songs flow, and Disillusioned was one of the few that were already released that I sort of liked. It grew on me.
Overall, it's a pretty damn dark album besides "So Long and Thanks For All the Fish", which has also grown on me a little.

Got to track 7 on my commute.
Album is solid, real melodic, pretty amazing.
I wasn't impressed with the songs when they released them ahead of the album, but in the context of the entire album, they fit right in.
Crazy that we live in a world where we are getting the first APC release in 14 years and the first TOOL album in 12 years.
2018 yall

Feathers is a good listen. I hate to say it but I'm kinda iffy on the album. I expected a lot more after waiting 14 years. The By and Down that was released in '13 or so is better as well. Here's to Tool finally getting us a new one now

I really had low expectations for this record after hearing "the doomed", but I actually dig it first time through.
Obviously, its no Mer or 13th, but it still has its moments.
