Lyrics Born, a Bay Area based rapper, released this summer an album with a lot of my favorite artists from New Orleans. I went back into his discography and realized he's got a lot of great music. I just saw him on the opening night of this tour in Austin, and I encourage any of y'all in the BR area to go check him out.

Ruh-oh. I don't see a New Orleans date on Lyrics Born's site

I just wanna see him do a full set. He played a solid 45 minutes with a lots of energy and was beyond worth the ticket price. He was also hanging out at the merch table after his set while Beat Antique was playing. We said hello for a few minutes, and he was super friendly -- autographed a CD and took a picture.

I've been to a handful of rap concerts, and the ones that stand out to me as being among the best are The Roots, Fat Tony and now Lyrics Born.

I'm unfamiliar with Lyrics Born, but Beats Antique always puts on a great show. Zoe Jakes is super hot as well

I saw Beats Antique a few years back at Festival International in Lafayette and enjoyed their performance. It was good last night too, but I admittedly was far more into Lyrics Born. Beats Antique felt low energy to me after Lyrics Born's performance.

If you're going for Beats Antique, it's absolutely worth getting there early for the opening act.
