He gets a pass in my book because of his contribution to Dead and Co

JRAD consists of much younger dudes in their prime musically.
Dead and Co still jams, though. Mayer is quality with them

He does a good job of "mimicking" that same sound that hundreds of people have recreated over the years. I'll give him that.

It's no secret everyone in the Dead community (Brad, Stack, David Gans, Gary Lambert, Bill Walton, etc.) have gone on record to say this is the BEST post Jerry Dead project ever.
I get that you like JRAD because they bring a "fresh" take, or they play faster. But they aren't as good as Dead and Co....period
One band is playing stadiums, one band is playing bars...
Now FWIW, my favorite Post Jerry project is PLQ.

Wait, you mean to tell me Bobby and Billy's involvement brings out the stadium crowds? (I don't count Mickey fwiw)

Lol. No.
The Warfield 99 lineup (Lesh, Anastasio, Kimock, McConnell, Molo) destroys Dead and Co. So does the Q.
At this point, with a little under a hundred shows played, JRAD is the best Grateful Dead related project since August 9th 1995.

Red Rocks, Capitol Theater, Fillmore Philadelphia = local watering hole. Gotcha.
What's your deal? Did Russo and Benevento bring your girl to Paris or something?

Only phanboys think that Warfield run was any good
I actually like JRAD, and they're better than that crap turned out at the Warfield in 99.
JRAD actually just released another sbd that sounds great, and you can hear some of the Duo in their jams.

Almost Dead is way better than those fricking stuck in slow motion tunes Dead and Co play. Not to mention JRAD is starting to get meh with me tbh too. Maybe its the tGD catalogue thats been over saturated with jam bands these days or maybe Its losing its freshness that was so appealing when they came out a few years ago. Either way jrad is still lightyears better than LOLdead and Bro.

These guys think it's cute you like that little band. I guess if anything, it's keeping the music alive

I don't compare JRAD to other Dead-related projects. Dead & Co., like Fare Thee Well, is about Bobby and Billy going out and having a good time and making a chunk of change with the help of other younger guys. I can't blame them one bit and would like to see them solely for the nostalgia factor, because that's the selling point. At this rate they just aren't what they used to be and that's okay, because the product is the nostalgia.
JRAD isn't nudging it's way in the door based on having a Dead member in the band. They do their own thing, delve into deep cuts from the Dead's catalog, and based on the influence of The Duo, drive more creative and thoughtful jams. With them, the product is the music.
