many of men has played the six string, John Hartford made love to it.. and it would sing

Besides for being a master of the banjo and fiddle, and switching instruments between songs, john would play some instruments simultaneously while playing, hence the nickname and one of the first,"One Man Band", title

John was also a steamboat captain, he grew up wathcing them travel up and down the ol' miss and once said it would have been his life occupation but,"music got in the way", thank god music got in the way..

Some of John's more famous songs were, Gentle on My Mind,(which Glenn Campbell made a killing off of, but i'm cool with it because i'm a big Glenn Campbell fan), and Steam Powered Aereo Plane,(both are some of my favorite songs of all time.

have a taste of the man who inspired so many of our favorite artist on tMB..

All time top 5 for me. Got to see him in 1999 at a local bluegrass festival. Unfortunately he was pretty sick by then. Still so glad I saw him.

My favorite song
In Tall Buildings
