Hopefully strand of oaks plays around here again soon

hope so too. i've been keeping up with their live shows through youtube lately and they are just so damn good as a band now with the new guitar player. he replaced the keyboardist so they really rock out now live.

check this out from a month ago:
sterling, full band version

REALLY heavy neil young influence IMO

Hell yea. This band is ridiculously underrated. HEAL was easily one of the best albums of last year, and this band is still hardly known.

I may go but not sure about them without Isbell

I have nothing but respect for the band's catalogue, but Isbell was the brains of DBT. There isn't a whole lot to Cooley and Patterson Hood is just obnoxious imo.

as much as I like isbell more than hood or cooley as a songwriter, this is blatantly false.

jason when he was not sober was a pretty big jerk who would have eventually been the reason the band broke up.

rock and roll rule #104: don't MARRY another member of your band

The vocals in the beginning The Sands of Iwo Jima are a prime example. My ears!!!!

that is a great song...I can deal with his whiny arse voice because his songwriting makes up for it...

I dunno...im a huge Isbell fan but that is a little bit much...Cooley and Hood ARE the truckers....Isbell is just better than they are...but the brains?...no...those guys know how its done...
