But I only play acoustic and my hands don't kill strings, plus they get a rub down good with every break in play. Hate that brand new ring (too much overtones) so they always get a rub down with chap stick and schrubbed clean when changed. On most go with D'Addario EJ19's - light tops and medium bottoms - they have a little more bottom without losing the top end.

Acoustic: D'Addario EXP lights .11-.52; change every 2 weeks or so depending on how they sound
Electric: GHS Boomers 10's; change every gig or recording session. They are probably good for 1 gig or about 2 days of playing
