I recently entered the hobby after receiving one of those $50 suitcase Crosley's for Christmas, which, say what you want about them, re-fired an interest in audio, and kick-started me into finally pursuing vinyl and audio equipment as a hobby.
I've only pursued entry level equipment at this point, as I'm only a few months in, but my 'get my feet wet' setup as of now (I had no plan and just kind of pieced it together):
- turntable: Sony PS-LX310BT
- preamp: Fosi X3
- amp: Fosi BT20a
- speakers: Klipsch R-41m
- DAC: SMSL C200
- headphone amp: Douk U3
- CD player: Cambridge Audio AXC35
So, my question: the last thing I added was the X3 preamp. I initially used the built-in preamp, and then tried the Fosi X1 which made no difference to me. Then I added the X3 and it was a dramatic improvement. I'd like to run my CD player and bluetooth via the DAC to the X3, rather than directly to the amp. Can I pass my DAC through my preamp. I'm worried it could distort, or worse, damage my preamp, so hesitant to try it.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, totally new to this (beside basic stereo knowledge any 80s-90s kid has).

The pre amp gets your turntable to line level. Your cd/DAC output are already at line level. But……..
It looks like your X3 has an aux input on front specifically for digital input so you should be fine. I would just start really low with your levels coming out of the DAC and the volume on your pre. Play with it till you find the sweet spot.

Yeah, good catch. I forgot all about that input as I didn't foresee using it when I bought it. Stuff like this is why I'm really digging this hobby so far. Just seems to be infinite setup possibilities, and so much customization available today.

For me, it’s almost too much. I’ve thought about changing/upgrading my system for years, but with my ocd it’s just too freakin overwhelming. So, therefore, my modest set up remains.
