You gotta give it more time than that. The pilot was basically a Goodfellas knockoff and Gandolfini didn't even have the Tony accent down much less the character. Not many series really hit the ground running, Seinfeld is my favorite sitcom ever but the pilot was hideous and I don't even like to watch the first couple of seasons
The pilot, and first season to a degree, are kind of corny at points with cheesy music. It gets much better.
One can tell they really weren't sure what kind of show they wanted at first and grew into it.

It took a few episodes for me, but I eventually was a big fan of succession.

A few weeks ago I saw the complete series on sale for $35 on Apple. Always wanted to watch it and the only place is through AMC streaming or buying it.
I'm 4 episodes in and don't get the appeal so far. I'm hoping it gets better as you get to know the characters. At this point it seems almost like an SNL skit about how men acted in this time period, but amplified.
I'm not asking if I should keep going...I wouldn't bail on an such an acclaimed show after just a couple of episodes. But I am wondering if it does get better. Advertising might be like medical dramas to me...I just don't care too much about the genre.
Mad Men does get better. They are over the top with some of the chasing skirts stuff early on as, much like Sopranos, they figured out where they were going with the show.
I agree the early episodes are ridiculously misogynistic. And I say that as a proud misogynist.
*I don't care for the bohemian side piece side story, but it doesn't last long.

Breaking Bad.
Give it another go. I promise. Hang with it a few episodes. Couldn’t get past a few episodes before bc it was a lot at the time, but then gave it a go a decade later. It’s phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal television.
