This is...something.
I keep trying to turn it off but it can't. I have a feeling when Judas does a duet with Pilot and Barabas shows up, and Peter denies Jesus it will get hilarious.

. I'm not sure how it fits in with the Passion story.
it seems to be they are trying to modernize the story similar to how they had a modernized Romeo and Juliet movie years ago to try and get younger people involved

Jesus just got 5 loaves of French bread and some fish from a food truck.

No lie, Jesus is singing a slow R&B cover of "Arms Wide Open" by Creed during the last supper.
I'm glad I didn't turn it off.
Funniest movie of the year so far.
ETA:
Come on I can't be the only one watching this.

Legit question... Did they all look at the black guy when Jesus said one would betray him?

Not really, I kinda of see what they are doing with it. They are trying to modernize it and make it more relatable I guess you can say.

If that's what they are trying to do there were plenty of ways to do it. A cheesy hokey musical hosted by Tyler Perry is just dumb and so far hilarious.
Also,
1. Walking Jesus and his cross down Bourbon Street is obnoxious.
2. The reporter just said Jesus died for all of our sins and the military puts their lives on the line for our freedom so we thank you like we thank Jesus

you wouldn't know it since he acts like he's from ATL

and I bet the ratings will be through the roof. SO they are accomplishing what they planned to accomplish.

Promotion for Tyler Perry?

This production is really one of the weirdest things I can remember seeing on television. Crazy tonal shifts from the dramatic (poor) acting to the live interviews as people carry the cross to Tyler Perry cracking jokes on stage. Just all over the place... and yet I kind of enjoy it from a spectacle/unintentional comedy perspective.
I hope it's a success if only for more batshit wacky ideas like this one to be produced.

They're just modernizing the story.
I'm not so sure why it's so funny. You and 3 other people are just posting :roltflmao: over and over again won't make everyone on the board agree with you.
We get it. You find it funny/terrible.
No one cares.
I'm watching it. I don't find it good, I don't find it bad. I sure as shite don't find it bad enough to get laughs from people on this board. You've gone a bit overboard.

Definitely. Though my parents are mad at me because they asked if I was watching and I told them I thought it was the most hilariously stupid thing I've ever seen.
