I tend to agree with you, but season 2 was so bad, I think its safe to say that s3 will be better.

The biggest reasons to be excited about this season:
1. Pizzolato was given time to craft a script that everybody associated with the show says is amazing and mindblowing.
2. Mahershala Ali is an incredibly talented actor.

Whatever the plot turns out to be, it appears to be really, really dark. The tone of that trailer gave me goosebumps.
