The scene where Bunk and McNulty are at that county apartment scooping out the scene of the girl Wee Bay killed for Avon and they only say "frick" was hilarious.

Great scene.

How The Wire never won an Emmy is beyond me.

I agree. My good friend had been telling me about it for a while. So about 3 weeks ago I started getting them from Netflix. Finished two nights ago. Never been so excited to watch a show and finish it so fast. Haha

The first time I ever turned on "The Wire," that was the scene I caught. I thought that was what they did during every murder investigation until I started watching regularly.

As far as favorites, obviously, Omar is #1, but after that, I'd have to go with Snoop. That rug muncher was just stone cold.

One of my favorite quotes, although not the best, was when Stringer found out that Clay Davis had played him for a shite load of money:

"He need ta get GOT!"

And who can forget,"Deez nuts!"

Clay Davis has "Louisiana Politics" written all over him.

The Wire is great.

Afreaux, last time there was a "Rank the HBO Shows" thread, I believe you hadn't seen The Wire yet, and listed The Sopanos.

Which do you prefer after having seen the two?

It's The Wire for me, no doubt.

I don't watch TV, so I ended up buying the entire series of the Wire in a box set, watched it all in about two weeks.

I'd still rank the Sopranos ahead of the Wire, which is ironic because I'm more into movies and documentaries about drugs than the mob. It's not all about the writing, I think Gandolfini's acting is what really seals the deal.

It was hard for me because Sopranos was my second favorite show ever, but after the last couple of episodes of The Wire, I had to bump Tony & Co. The last ten minutes or so is exactly how a show should end its run.

it went like this BTW:

Bunk: (slightly sympathetic) Awe…frick.
McNulty: Motherfricker.
Bunk: (under his breath) frick. frick. frickin’ frick.
McNulty: frick.
Bunk: (under his breath) Mmm, frick frick…frick. frick. frick.
McNulty: (curious) frick?
McNulty: (in pain) frick!
McNulty: frick
Bunk: (exclaims) Mother-fricker!
McNulty: (astonished) Awe frick….Awe frick.
McNulty: frick, frick, frick, frick…fricker.
McNulty: frick, frick, frick, frick.
Bunk: Awe frick.
Bunk: (stunned) Mother fricker.
McNulty: (shocked) frickin-A.
McNulty: (straining, using pliers) Fuuhck.
McNulty: (decisively) Motherfricker.
Bunk: (taken aback) frick Me.

Pretty good transcription, but I seem to remember a "frickety-frick-frick" in there somewhere.

Omar obviously, but then Michael. He seemed like he could succeed at whatever he wanted to do but fell into it all anyway. Then how he ended up doing the same thing that Omar did at the end of the show.
