I was thinking about it earlier. It really would be pretty awesome. The thing about it is that it would have to have a radically different structure than every other dbz movie or storyline. It's almost something that is placed out of the dbz sphere with the focus needing to be on something of an anti hero and maybe not necessarily having a good and pure guy win in the end.

Yeah the movie would show why Vegeta is the person that he is. His training, his dad, his brutality under Frieza's guidance. We know from the show that when he gets to Namek he and Frieza have been split up for a while and he wants the dragon balls for himself.
The movie would end after the explosion of Planet Vegeta. Vegeta strikes a deal with Frieza that him, Nappa, and Raditz will continue to work for him. In secret however, Vegeta and Nappa head to earth to rendezvous with Raditz and Kakarot and the plan is for the four of them, the last remaining saiyans, to band together to find the dragon balls and become super saiyans and immortal warriors and kill Frieza.
So to someone unfamiliar with the franchise it seems to end on a hopeful note, but to anyone who knows the franchise it is headed anywhere but hopeful.
On a side note, I just noticed something annoying. Vegeta is always talking about how him and Goku were the only survivors of the planet explosion. Even though Radditz was still out there somewhere and he killed Nappa himself. I dont know why that just registered in my head for the first time.

I watched the first 6 episodes of GT last night (subbed of course), and it honestly wasn't that bad. I like the little robot guy that ate the dragon radar.

That's all fine and good but Vegeta and Nappa had no knowledge of the Dragon balls until they overheard it on Radditz scouter as he lay dying.

Also, Goku fought a guy early on in GT who somehow knew about the Saiyans.

not bad but this doesnt really mesh with early Vegeta. He never wanted to join with Kakarot. He didnt give a shite about anyone else becoming a ssj but himself. and no prior knowledge of the dragon balls. you could still have hints of these themes but it would have to be a personal vendetta by Vegeta alone.
as for Frieza and Namek: I cant exactly remember but im almost positive he mentions how he heard about them during the saga.

True but he did want Frieza dead. You could just change it to show the Prince gathering up the remaining saiyans to challenge Frieza then he discovers the dragon balls
