Michael Scott absolutely made the show. He was there for what? 7 seasons? There was Will Ferrel's character that came in towards the end of season 7 and then they didn't stick with that. They finally went with Robert California and that was a weird character.
I think they should have promoted Jim or something.. It would allow him and Pam to grow their life then bring in new characters who start off as minor characters.. And like an office. When you hire someone, over time a new hire's role expands and sort of approached it like that.
