The Dead Don't Die - A controversial Movie. (No Spoilers review)

Wife and I love campy movies and Zombie movies so this seemed like a new Shaun of the Dead style movie that would be perfect to spend a Sunday morning watching.
Admittedly I had moderate to high expectations due to the cast and my internal comparison of SotD but it was quickly apparent that this was not that type of movie.
The movie started off clunky, was littered with weird, chopped up dialogue, awkward pauses and a plot that seemed to meander in all different directions.
I really am not sure what the film maker was going for but the Writer / Director, Jim Jarmusch, is supposedly known for this sort of strange, dead pan dialogue. Since I have never seen one of his films before, I will have to take others word for it but this movie did not strike any redeeming cord I could. The only partial theme was an ode to current consumerism and the effect of current technology and lifestyle turning people into zombies but it was a super weak reach.
The IMDB ratings bear out this controversy with the ratings being all over the place. Evidently you either got the movie or you didn't.
I have to say that me nor anyone around me in the theater got it including a couple who walked about about 30 min in.
IMDB ratings
The cast did a good job with what they were given and I did enjoy a few characters, like Tilda Swinson as the local mortician but even with these few points of brightness, it couldn't save this movie.
This movie felt like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, crashed into Planet Terror without any real suspense, action or plot.
I am curious if anyone else saw this yet. If you haven't I would recommend not paying for it in the theaters.

It’s an anti-fracking, global warming movie propaganda piece disguised as a zombie movie and sold as an offbeat dry undead flick.

But did it subvert your expectations? That’s all that really matter in this day and age.

Yes it did, especially the end so I guess it was successful on that account.
