Can't tell you how many hours I spent there as a kid/teen.
I can remember walking around this mall as kid and throwing coins in the fountain. My office is about 2 miles from this place and drive by it every day. Interested to see if the cricket stadium happens.

Mall Historian Breaks Down Stranger Things S3's True Star: The Starcourt Mall
quote:
The Starcourt Mall may be new to Hawkins, but malls were not a new thing in the '80s, as Vicki Howard, a Lecturer in History at the University of Essex and author of the book From Main Street to Mall: The Rise and Fall of the American Department Store, tells SYFY WIRE.
quote:
“I looked at the trailer and I couldn’t tell if it was an actual clip of a real promotion or if it was fictionalized, and I’ve seen a lot of these, so it looked highly accurate to me. Even the music and the way they promoted the mall as this upbeat, sort of cheerful, idealistic vision of shopping,” Howard says, referencing the first teaser trailer for Season 3 (shown above), which was billed as a commercial for Starcourt.
“It was fictional, right?” she adds. “I couldn’t even tell and I’m an expert on that.”

That was a real place?
The Scoops Ahoy location from the show is in the mall set in Atlanta. (I haven't been able to get over to that section yet for more photos).
The Scoops Ahoy shop from that pic that LasVegasTiger's post is a physical ice cream shop that's popped up in Burbank for two weeks as a promo.

There's a Stranger Things Ice Cream Pop-Up in Burbank
ETA: Apparently there's one outside of Toronto, too.
Aaaaaaand an ice cream truck that's going all through England:

Looks like they had Steve Funko Pop figures for sale at Baskin Robbins, last week. Most sold out ASAP.

There's another version of the Scoops Ahoy Steve (sans USS Butterscotch) at Target.
