I too was disappointed with Hearts in Atlantis, the movie. I like the book too.

Bag of Bones just felt like a movie as I was reading it. Very visual scenes.

I'm disappointed no one has mentioned how good IT was.

dreamcatcher
It started off really well setting up the main group of friends with their special little powers and such. But it got really dumb with the aliens and shite.

Is dreamcatcher the one with the retarded guy who called the alien or creature Mr. Grey?

Yes; the one thing that really really bothered me about that movie was how Mr Grey managed to eat people if it was inside of Jonesy. I'm still unsure about how that happened.

Yes. And the alien sounded like Niles Crane.

I think the Shining is one of the most overrated movies of all time.

Glad I'm not the only one. I was "e"-viscerated (SWIDT?) last time I said that on this forum.

I'd put Storm of the Century right up there with his best films. It was great and underrated.

I just wish IT would be made for HBO and start Tim Curry again.

King isn't God. Just like any author, he has hits and misses and producers are all too happy to slap together a movie that was a miss as a book.

Based on his longevity and prolific writing over the years, there aren't too many authors that have had as many good movies made.

1.The Shining
2.Misery
3.Shawshank
4.Green Mile
5.Stand By Me
6.Creepshow 1 and 2 were both good
7.Salem's Lot - the original
8.The Dead Zone
9.The Running Man - C'mon, it has Richard Dawson. That was epic casting.

There are others that I like but could see people hating. I think most of that list up there is at minimum fairly entertaining.

I do agree with Jersey that The Shining is overrated but I wasn't a big fan because I loved the book so much more. As to it being over the top, insane people tend to be over the top thus the insanity.
