I agree, although that area under the temple where Ben is told to kill Jacob by the MIB vision is badass.

Man this talk about the ashes can get kind of confusing sometimes. I wish Myles would have touched the ashes surrounding Jacob's cabin like he did with Jacob's ashes so we could get more info about it.

The sand is actually ashes. And the ashes were used to barricade the MIB in the cabin for all of those years until Hurley got frightened and ran over the ashes

Then how the hell do you explain the monster appearing prior to this? Also, how the hell did "Christian" appear on the boat? Smokey couldn't leave the island. What's to stop him from taking it to the mainland? Was this another one of the made up rules like Ben couldn't kill Widmore? Also, how did "Christian" appear in the hospital when the smoke alarm went off?

You can't. Honestly out of all the stuff fans gripe about on the show, the cabin scene is the only one that I ever chime in and agree on. It doesn't make any sense.

IMO ( take it FWIW) not all the appearances of christian were MIB but rather projections of the island itself. Similar to Anna Lucia, Libby, Boone (in Locke's hut).

There are a few possible explanations.

He may have been released many years prior by Ben before or after the purge. But he still used the cabin to manipulate people.

It may have been Jacob in the cabin earlier, either trapped or as a way of staying safe from his brother. Or just for having private conversations from his brother. When the other group got there they looked for Jacob in the cabin, and I think he had left a note that he was at the statue.
