May be stupid. If the predator really only had thermal vision why didn’t it run into trees and shite?

From the interwebs;
"Tree Thermal Visibility
Trees, being made of wood, exhibit a natural insulation property, which reduces their infrared radiation. As a result, thermal imaging devices typically struggle to penetrate through dense tree cover. The wood fibers trap heat, preventing it from escaping, making trees appear cooler than their surroundings."
