Jerry Lewis could be a real egotistical a-hole, but what he did for generations of kids with Muscular Dystrophy - the thousands and thousands of hours and days he devoted to their cause - should never be forgotten.

His final telethon closing song, "You'll Never Walk Alone".

No specific memory of a moment. But as a little kid in the 70s before cable, it was always pretty exciting to know that, no matter how late you stayed up on Labor Day weekend, something would be on tv.

Back in the good old days, when they'd put on Vegas lounge acts in the late hours, it was like an acid trip without LSD.

I remember sometime in the early '80s turning on the TV in the middle of the night and seeing some fat guy in his '50s (at least) with a horrible jet-black rug, squeezed into Elvis' old white jump suit --- with a little chest hair showing -- and singing Billy Joel's "You May Be Right".

Awesomeness

WACKO HEY JOE!

Wacko Hey Joe!

This would bring my Dad to tears. He was a GC and I'd guess he knew subs like this.
