One thing that pisses me off about Netflix is they don't work on Saturday anymore. You used to be able to put a DVD in the mail Friday and get a new Monday on Monday. Now they won't receive the disc until Monday, and you don't get your new disc until Tuesday. This has caused me to essentially plan my life around my Netflix queue in order to max out by getting two movies a week.

Blockbuster used to count the movies as returned when you brought them to the store... then they realized if they mailed them in from the store it would cost you a week or so each month and slowwwww things down. So that's what they do now. Get about 6 fewer rentals a month b/c of that. Frackers!

If you don't have your movie by the arrival date, simply call them and they will send it to you that day. So you would get it tomorrow

For cities with distribution centers- install a drop box at the distribution center. For many it would be no inconvenience and it would eliminate the whole day of mail process. Just a drop box/slot, nothing else, no people for service or anything.
I would only do that if there was a drop box nearby.
One of the biggest selling points Netflix has is that you don't spend money on gas going to the video store. I have the three-DVD plan (and they've been inexplicably mailing me a fourth DVD), so I'm never in the lurch.
