As a compromise for for a wonderful wife of 32 years that let's me watch as much college football (and some NFL if I can tolerate it) as I want with never any grief, she picks out various shows in the off season we can binge watch or follow during this time.

The show my wife has really dialed in on is "My Lottery Dream Home" where people that have won various amounts of lottery money and they have this guy that I am guessing is an interior designer of some type and he helps them find the types of "dream homes" based on how much the want to spend. The winners I have seen so far have winnings ranging from 1 million to won that hit it for 180 million.

The show is oddly interesting for me to watch how some of these people you will be able to tell will be on their asses rather quickly as they are pissing the money away and those who have a good grasp on things.

It's embarrassing and I wonder if any other husbands out there have to pay some sort of penance to watch sports in peace?

I think this has the pool guy beat...He shows these people 3 houses (I am sure they looked at more) and my wife and I try to guess which ones they will purchase. It's chessy old married couple stuff...Of course this show always leads to the question of "If we won the lottery where would we live"...question...It's always fun to dream so they say

Nope. I have a TV in the bedroom she can watch if she doesn’t like golf (she doesn’t), NFL (she doesn’t) or college football (she does).

Since she retired she complains less about it because she can watch stuff on the big screen (I designed my LR around an 80” 4K TV” when I’m at work

It's an HGTV show...I have Comcast here and they have the current season 4 on Demand.

Each episode is only 30 minutes so it's not too long. I haven't checked the online streaming places like Netflix or Amazon Prime to see if the earlier seasons are on. I imagine VUDU has it too.

I was recently on a flight with the host of that show. Big guy, but as gay as the day is long. Still, he seemed to be very nice and gracious to the "fans" coming up to him.

I don't watch the show often, but, for some unknown reason, my 5 year old loves HGTV. I agree with your assessment. You see quite a few people who you could tell were broke dicks prior to winning the lottery, spend their $1.2 mill on something reasonable people know is a bad purchase.

They should do a "where are they now?" show to follow up on everyone. I would say at least 20% will/have probably foreclosed on their second homes and are largely right back in the same position they were before the lottery winning

I watch it from time to time. It's sad and funny at the same time. Sad because he shows these people houses that are like "2400 sq ft, built in 2004, etc" and it is a tacky house but because they came from a trailer, they are like "wow. look at this house! it's incredible." They showed one family after buying their lottery dream house and he also bought his "dream boat" and it was like a 1996 17 ft cajun special. Guy was happy as a pig in a mudhole.
