I second this, if done right. Robotechs story is so much more interesting.

So, this won't even get a theater release now? Damn.

I also have complete confidence this will be a total cgi shitshow and contain none of the political and family intrigue that made Gundam Wing so spectacular.

So far, it's unclear.

Legendary Films produced Godzilla vs Kong and Dune and were pissed that WarnerBros was releasing them on HBO Max, taking away box office revenue.

IGN says Legendary will retain distribution rights in China where this will undoubtedly set records. Does that then offset their need/desire for US box office revenue? Just as a reference, Netflix tried to buy Godzilla vs Kong for $200M and Universal squashed it.

Netflix hasn't had any movies with a wide release that I know of, just the 7 day showing in LA to qualify for awards.

Would be interesting if they said frick It and released it wide before or in conjunction with streaming.
