It has to be - I don't like Christian Bale (on a personal level) - and don't think he made a particularly exceptional Batman - I'm a Nolan fan, but I don't like the first and third Batman movies.
He's A+ with his own material, at least IMHO.

I thought Bale was a great Bruce Wayne, but a comical Batman. Nolan does get credit for having some really great villains, too. His Joker and Bane were really outstanding.
