I didn’t realize it was a hate-watch until well after I started it. The father of a Gen Z wanna’ be actress submits his DNA to one of the online services, finds a half brother, and learns Charles Manson is his father. Gen Z daughter then makes this her entire identity and makes a documentary about it all and how it affects her.

She cries way too much.

She and her dad have an interesting dynamic. It’s pretty dysfunctional, but there’s a lot of footage from her childhood showing how much he loves her. He seems very damaged, which makes sense because he had a messed up childhood.

He does look a lot like Charles Manson.

She interviews a lot of people who were involved with Manson. Some were members of his family, some were friends/sympathizers from his time in prison, some were involved in the trial. She wants to feel sympathy for Manson and show that he wasn’t pure evil, so she sort of minimizes what some of these people say. She calls him “grandpa” at one point which is ridiculous because her dad didn’t even know Manson was his father until recently.

She makes it ALL about her and it seems forced. I get that finding out that Manson is your biological grandfather would be disturbing, but it’s more of an issue her for dad then her.

I almost turned this off before I finished it, but I made it through. She’s pretty insufferable.
