I think 3 was my favorite of the series, very good. Re-read the first two earlier this year when the 3rd one came out.
Lone Survivor, Maze Runner series, Divergent series, David Gibbons- Atlantis.
Currently reading Andy McDermott- Valhalla Prophecy (book 9 in Chase/ Wilde series.)
I know I have read more, just can't think of them off the top of my head.

I agree that Butcher takes a novel or two to hit his stride. Once he does however he writes a very tight book that carries easily from one chapter to another.
Plus he is a nice guy if you meet him in person. Charlaine Harris is arguably the nicest writer you could meet but Butcher is a close second from what I have seen. Mercedes Lackey is also a wonder to deal with.
