SPOILERS FOR FIRST EPISODE ONLY PLEASE!!!

Now I loved the young pope and at the time it aired, believed it was the most intelligent show on television.

Now the new pope has started strong but I don't like how the first episode ended.

SPOILERS!!!

It ended, strongly implying the first new pope was assassinated. Now I don't like that and I hope it isn't true.

The first season's strongest feature was that at the end of every episode, you were left believing something about the course of the show or pope himself that wasn't true or accurate.

In that way, I hope this season is like the last, where each episode's preconceived notions are dismissed in the next episode but this seeming assassination has me concerned.

Thoughts?

I didn't particularly care for how they did it, but I'd much rather John Malkovich be Jude Law's "nemesis" than the guy who played Viglietti. I think this season will be REALLY good.

I hope so.

The first season was just a brilliantly done slow burn.

But do you really think they assassinated him though? Or do you think, much like last season, you were left believing something at the end of the episode that will be dispelled in the next episode?

I don't think this level of treachery fits here. Although the cardinals are flawed, backbiting and at times corrupt, they genuinely care about the best interest of the church and they are deeply devout. Or at least were last season.

They weren't portrayed as evil in the first season and I liked that.

We'll see.

I would suggest a text thumbs up involves some level of coordination.

In a wider aspect of the show I like the politics behind the curtains. Think it’s interesting to watch and probably not far off of how they run the Vatican.

I had to force myself to fight through the first couple of episodes, and I usually bail quickly on a show. However, I loved it by the halfway point.

I was the same way. The first season took a little dedication early on but it was more than worth it.

I started liking it once I realized each new episode would peel another layer off the young pope. I bought in completely by the third episode.

He ended up NOTHING like the character you thought he might turn into.
