After his wife and kid are murdered he passes out on his property. Do slave traders usually just casually go onto a General or high ranking officials property? Seems pretty ballsy to do and especially within a decent amount of time to still find him alive.

The entire estate had been sacked and burned and there were dead bodies scattered around. It would have been pretty obvious that it was done by the Romans. It was a perfect place for a slaver to poke around in after the Romans left it for dead because no one left alive would have rights any longer anyway.
