Screenwriters do this so the viewer is constantly hearing a character names, especially in films where you only have a brief time to establish everyone's name clearly to the audience so they aren't confused.
The Godfather is one of the best scripts to ever work character names into the common lingo of characters without having to give blatant exposition.
